研究テーマ

Realizing eye movements in reading English text
Eye movements in reading English text have been recorded and analyzed by many researchers, then its various and intriguing characteristics were reported. What was mainly discussed on those reports include what controls the eye movements, or what/how it affects the oculomotor system to show those characteristics. In this research, we aim to figure out the "what" and "how" through both computer simulation of eye movements in reading English text and comparison between the simulated and human eye movements.

What is the role of HCI in aging society?
Over decades, elderly population steadily increases as a good effect of better healthcare and medication. What about side effect? It would be no doubt to say that while this happens, more elderly people tend to live apart from the rest of their family members for some reasons, leading to having fewer face-to-face conversations and more loneliness. Fortunately, thanks to IT, computers have already become commonplace in daily lives and the internet covers the globe. This is the place where HCI should come and help bridge between family members by supporting their conversations in various ways. I hope that HCI plays an important role not only in human to computer interaction, but also in human to human interaction via computers.
